Your Home Entryway is the First Impression

Your home entryway is the first impression people get of your home. Whether you call it an entryway or foyer, or mudroom, this area can be transformed into a beautiful area with functionality. This is the area where guests can remove wet shoes, coats, and gloves. It is nice to have a bench to sit on and coat pegs to hang coats and caps. Maybe add a few baskets for the gloves.

A bench to sit down on is a good idea. The bench could have some lower shelves to place shoes and boots.

You also want an absorbent rug to catch snow from the shoes and boots. All of the above do not cost much money and most can come from recycled materials.

Next, add the wall art to your imagination. Mirrors make a small space seem larger. They also reflect light. Introduce your family with wall pictures.

Maybe a narrow table with some baskets of flowers or seasonal decorations. A drop-down table that flips up conserves space.

Plants are always a good addition especially if there is some light. By adding some light fixtures will brighten up the area especially at night for welcoming guests.

If you do not have room for the extras, keep things simple. A small bench, a rug, coat hooks, and a basket for a catch-all can be simple. Sometimes less is more.
